Award Medal (“Honor Badge”) of the Soviet War Veterans Committee, with Original Issue Box and Unissued Award Document, 1980s award to a participant of WW2.
These are GUARANTEED 100% ORIGINAL award and document made during the Soviet period, not a post-Soviet manufacture or a replica!
The medal is very nicely made! Unlike most other Soviet veteran awards, it’s in Brass rather than light weight metal, with nice lacquer finish and “cold” red enamel.  Medallion measures about 31 mm wide. Its obverse features the monument to WW2 Soviet soldier in the Berlin’s Treptower Park. The reverse has inscription “Honor Badge of SKVV (Soviet War Veterans Committee”.  There is raised logo “LMD” (Leningrad Mint) on the reverse of the suspension device.
The medal is in SUPERB, NEAR MINT condition. The details and finishes are perfect. The pin attachment is intact and fully functional.
The medal comes in its ORIGINAL BOX made in cardboard and wrapping paper, exactly as issued by the Soviet Mint. The box shows storage wear only, still nice and sound.
Also included is ORIGINAL UNISSUED AWARD DOCUMENT from 1980s. The document is of booklet format standard for Soviet award certificates of the period; measures approx. 85 mm x 115 mm when closed. The front cover shows a nicely detailed depiction of the monument to WW2 Soviet soldier in the Berlin's Treptower Park. There is an ink stamp of the Soviet War Veterans Committee and facsimile signatures of its Chairman Hero of the Soviet Union Zheltov and Executive Secretary Hero of the Soviet Union A. Malov. The document is in excellent condition, shows only mild storage age and some light wrinkles, no stains or tears.
Unlike the typical WW2 Veteran Pins, the SKVV Honor Badge was awarded only to most distinguished WW2 vets and those veterans that took active part in social life (such as giving patriotic lectures to school children.) Like the other Veteran badges, SKVV medals were NEVER available for sale. Original Soviet veteran badges and medals are fun to collect if you are interested in military history. Moreover, a correct badge can be a nice addition to a WW2 medal group or even an individual researched decoration and will bring extra dimension and interest to a collector’s display.
