During WWII, Germany needed military access through Bulgaria in order to attack Greece. An act which resulted in the bombing of the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia on 13 December 1941. Germany quickly produced a limited quantity of these sirens for a warning air raid. The sirens were used only on Bulgarian territory in the period 1941 - 1944 when the British and American Air Force bombed oil production and transportation facilities and other important strategic targets. Description

Extremely rare WW2 German Hand Crank Operated Air Raid Siren
    Warning Emergency Bombing Safety Alarm
The siren is fully functional with a very loud sound. Shows age wear as expected from an original WW2 item but it is still in very well preserved condition without missing parts! The Siren was tested 30 miles out of the town to not cause panic in the people. The real sound of the siren is really very powerful. The siren is part of my personal collection of only this type of WW2 sirens which I was collecting for more than 20 years. I decided to list some of them and I hoping these historical pieces to fall into good hands of collectors who will appreciate their true historical value. Exactly these sirens are so rare and preferred by collectors because the Germans produced a limited amount which was used by the German army from 1941 to 1944 only on Bulgarian territory and can not find the same type siren in another place on the world.
