    Description

This is a unique and rare vintage lot of items from the World War 2 area. This is a letter from the Red Cross Finland office to the United States; and a letter from the United States office to the family. I believe this has something to do with a life insurance policy being cashed in because of the death of the son who was killed in action during the war. Eino Alander was in a plane shot down while in battle.
His story started out sad in the beginning with his family coming to the United States from Finland when he was a young boy. There was a father; his young wife; and a young son. They were Viljo; Olga and Eino Alander; and they ended up settling in Indianapolis, Indiana. The wife and son went back to visit in 1924 and when she came back; she died of uterus cancer in 1925 at the young age of 25; leaving the 5 year old boy and his father. I will be listing a few other items from this collection soon. These have
surface wear and damage; minor soiling/staining; nicks/dings/scratches; creases/tears; other blemishes and wear; etc.
