PHILLIPINES WW2 era large Moro Filipino Barong FM machete, orig leather scabbard

Description

Original late early 1900th-1940th Malay Archipelago (Mindanao/Moroland - present day Philippines) traditional Moro style "Barong" fighting machete/short sword. This popular machete type was used during the war by the Filipino irregulars and American GIs alike. This impressive specimen is about 19-1/2”/49.5 cm overall; narrow-tip Bolo blade is about 13-3/4" /35 cm. The blade is razor-sharp still, no typical ding marks on the spine; the tip is intact; some minor pitting/surface rust is noted for accuracy. Ricasso is sharply struck FM on one aside. Original brown horn handle is in very good condition, considering the age; a minor age-related hairline crack is noted for accuracy; all parts are tight with no play. Original well-made leather sheath is in great shape; this type is rare this nice.

type was used during the war by the Filipino iregulars and American GIs alike. This impressive specimen is about 19-1/2” / 49.5 cm overall; narrow-tip Bolo blade is about 13-3/4" / 35 cm. The blade shows some signs of field use but the edge is undamaged. The edge is razor-sharp still, no typical ding marks on the spine; the tip is intact; some minor pitting/surface rust is noted for accuracy. Ricasso is sharply struck
