  • Condition: This amazing 19” by 13 1/2” certificate honors Edward A. Hanks of Augusta, Maine. Hanks enlisted as a Private on Sept. 27, 1864 in the 2nd Maine Cavalry Company B. His enlistment ended on Sept. 19, 1865. He eventually became a Lieutenant in the Capital Guard in Augusta, Maine. The certificate has deep toning. There are water stains and some tears/small rips on the edges. It features a facsimile signature of Joshua Chamberlain and well as his picture at the top. There are great vignettes of battle scenes. This was made by the American Bank Note Co., New York and Boston. This will be shipped rolled. Please see photos for condition. A wonderful addition to your collection.
