    Description

FINE BOOK BY A FORMER CONFEDERATE OFFICER, "FOUR YEARS UNDER MARSE ROBERT".  AUTHOR ROBERT STILES, MAJOR OF ARTILLERY, ARMY OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA.  FIRST EDITION, 1903.
Several years ago I obtained at auction a group of Civil War books including this fine first-hand account by a former Confederate officer Robert Sties, serving under General Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia command.  368 pages.  6" x 8 7/8". I would rate the book's condition as Very Good.  There is some splitting along the spine in an interior page of the book.  I believe this can be readily repaired.  Otherwise the book's pages are tight and the book is in good shape.
The auction description of this book indicated Robert Stiles grew up in New England and some pages are devoted to his pre-war experience.  Enlisting in the Confederate Army, Major Stiles served from Bull Run to final battles such as Sailor's Creek and the ultimate surrender of Lee's Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox.
30 day return guarantee as long as the book is returned in the same condition as sent.  Mailing cost includes insurance and is based on domestic mailing.  International mailing cost is based on destination and will be through Ebay's Global Shipping Program.
This will make a very nice addition to a general collection of books on the Civil War and in particular, a book on the Civil War Confederacy written by a former Confederate officer serving under General Lee.  Given the First Printing 1903 printing date, it is also an historic book published at the time when many Civil War veterans both Confederate and Union were still very much alive.
